You recognize yourself or you apprehend the following cases : – forgetfulness of pill, – condom that tears or slips, – vaginal ring dysfunction … or another stressful situation. You should know that there are two remedial devices that are in fact emergency contraceptions. 

The first is hormonal emergency contraception or so-called next-day contraception, commonly referred to as the “morning after pill”.

The second is mechanical emergency contraception which is actually a copper intrauterine device (IUD). The latter is so far the most effective method for emergency contraception.

However, in both cases, it is necessary to use these contraceptions as soon as possible after the unprotected intercourse. The effectiveness of the morning-after pill is effective until 2 days after unsafe sex with a decreasing performance over time. Regarding the IUD, its effectiveness is up to 5 days after the sexual intercourse.
